Fast-forward recorded video
The best way to view recorded footage from your Grid Connect cameras is from the Grid Connect app. For Grid Connect cameras to record footage in the first place, a suitable SD card needs to be installed and formatted (if necessary). Specific SD card requirements can be found in the user manual/pairing guide for your specific camera. Once this is completed, you may want to review and adjust the recording settings on your camera, which do vary between models, so it is best to refer to the user manual for this. Note that the screens may vary in appearance depending on your operating system, screen size and app version.
When something occurs, or if you simply want to review the recorded footage, follow these simple steps:
1. Open the Grid Connect app.
2. Tap on the camera you would like to view the footage from, which opens the UI and displays the live stream.
3. Tap on the expand features button in the bottom right-hand corner, see screenshot below.
4. Then tap on the Playback button to access the recorded footage.
5. Once the playback screen is open, there are a few different things you can do with it.
To simply view the footage, first tap on the date the footage was recorded, then scroll left/right to adjust the time. Recorded footage will be shown in blue and will vary depending on your recording settings. For example, if you opt for continuous recording, then the entire scrolling wheel will be blue; or if you opt for event recording, then only the times your camera detects motion will be recorded, like the below screenshot.
To save a recorded video from the SD card to your mobile device, first locate the footage you want to save, then tap on the video camera to begin recording, and tap on it again to stop the recording. This will save the video from your SD card to your Grid Connect album (which is stored in the cloud). Next, you should always save the video locally to your mobile device to ensure you retain the footage. To do this, exit the playback UI and tap on Album in the camera features, then tap on the desired footage, then the share icon in the bottom right-hand corner, which should allow you to save it locally.
You can also save a snapshot image from the recorded footage on the SD card to your mobile device, by tapping on the camera icon, which will save the image in your Grid Connect album. Same as with recorded videos, the snapshot image needs to be saved locally to your device.
NOTE: We recommend using the Grid Connect app to view footage on SD cards, rather than PC. Some cameras within the range store the footage in a format that is not easily read on usual media players. We are transitioning to MP4 format (which can be viewed via PC), but this is a change that takes some time to implement across the range.
