The Grid Connect App has an experimental feature that allows you to trigger an action once your phone has passed a certain geographical boundary that you can set.
Please note that this function requires the use of geolocation services provided by your phone’s operating system. Function may be limited by your phone’s location services. Ensure that the Grid Connect app has location permissions set to ‘always’ and that the app is allowed to run in the background.
Use an automation to control your devices when you are arriving or leaving a location.
- To create an automation, tap the '+' button on the top right of the app.
- Select 'create scene'.
- Tap 'when location changes' then follow the on-screen prompts to enable the Grid Connect app access to your location via your phone.
- Tap ‘Arrive at a preset location' or ‘Leave a preset location' depending on whether you'd like your departure or your arrival to trigger the automation.
- Check the location shown on the screen matches the location you'd like to use to trigger the automation. Swipe the map or type a new address to adjust the location, pinch together or spread to adjust the trigger radius from 100m up to 10km. Tap 'Confirm' when you are ready to proceed.
- Tap the '+' icon next to 'Then' to add a new action, then 'control a device'. Then choose 'Select multiple devices' or 'Select a single device' and choose the device(s) you'd like to action when the automation is triggered. Different devices can do different things in automations.
- Tap the '+' icon beside 'Then' to add more device actions. You can add up to 200.
- Adjust the 'Precondition' if you only want the automation happening at certain times of day – either a clock time or relative to sunrise/sunset.
- Enable 'Show in Room' if you would like this automation to appear inside the given room’s UI.
- Tap 'save' and enter a name to identify your automation. This makes it easy to identify in your automation list.
