If your DL031HA is staying unlocked (even when its says ‘locked’) OR it is not unlocking when it says ‘unlocked’ then it is likely that the spindle isn’t aligned correctly. Don’t worry, this can be fixed easily following the below steps.
1. Remove the back and front panels from the door. Make sure the spindle is firmly clipped into the front panel. It shouldn’t be able to be pulled out when you tug on it whilst holding the door lock in one hand.
2. Double check whether your door is left or right hinged. Remember: you need to check the hinge side from the outside. The door may open towards you or away from you, what is important is which side the hinge is on.
3. Rotate the spindle so that the arrow points to ‘R’ for right-hinged doors or ‘L’ for left-hinged doors. If it is upwards or downwards it will cause the door to either not lock properly, or to not unlock.
4. Re-install the front and back panels, being careful to maintain the spindle alignment when you thread the spindle into the latch.
